The focus of the competition is on safe driving for youngsters from 8 to 11 years old, and the winners will each receive a week's course from July 23-29 at the Asturias-based Karting Campus, which was founded by Fernando Alonso two years ago.

The course, starting from scratch, will consist of both theoretical and practical sessions on track, conducted in English, with the highly-qualified Campus instructors. The winners will learn the basic principles of race craft and safe driving, equipping them with vital skills and knowledge for the future.

The programme of what they will learn during the week has been designed by Alonso himself, while the karts used are bespoke FA chassis equipped with special Pirelli tyres. These help to ensure perfect safety and control at all times for karters at every level. The circuit too has been designed with safety primarily in mind, and is able to operate in 29 different configurations, with many corners based on Alonso's favourite Formula 1 tracks.

Each child will be accompanied by an adult, with additional activities including golf, Spanish courses, and visits to the Fernando Alonso museum: ensuring that there is something for everyone.

Three winners will be chosen, and all children aged 8 to 11 are eligible, even if they have never karted before. Entries closed earlier this week and the three winners will be randomly drawn on July 10, with more than 200 applications received.

“The prize includes all flights (leaving from Italy) and accommodation for the winner and an accompanying adult, as well as insurance. Full details and regulations are available on the website: https://promo.pirelli.com/auto/it-it/Karting_Campus_F-Alonso
